Boot time is one of the major criteria distinguishing an RTOS from a normal OS. Increased boot time is the side effect of the growth of any OS to a sophisticated one meeting more customer requirements. But in embedded world, this is not acceptable as the end customer will not tolerate slower power on.

In this presentation, Shilu will point out the business needs of low boot time for AGL and the technical challenges to be faced for achieving it. He will go through the techniques applied by his team to achieve a commendable reduction in the boot time while porting AGL to an R-Car SoC based platform. He will describe the importance of boot time reduction for meeting various expectation within the automotive industry and the specific methods that can be used for those solutions. He introduce the tools and processes that can be used for a typical boot time optimization activity.
